OUR

SCHOOL

IMG_4799.png

A welcoming environment! Panda Learning Center has created warm, bright, and inviting classrooms. Our quality teachers and learning materials challenge, stimulate and encourage learning, which meet developmental needs. We alternate classroom materials throughout the school year to ensure stimulation and interest. Our water table, sand table and well-stocked art area provide additional opportunities to learn using creativity, imagination, and all five senses. Although we recognize technology as an important tool, young children benefit from hands-on learning materials. Therefore, natural, wooden educational materials, and books dominate the classroom. Although we occasionally use technology, we do not rely on technology to enhance learning.

Reading is the most important learning tool! We help children appreciate, respect, and develop a love for books by reading to children daily, and encouraging them to read daily too. Our, ever-growing, school library offers books for children and parents.

Arrange a visit and discover what makes Panda Learning Center the right choice for your child!

DAILY

SCHEDULE

Quality learning every day! Although timetables vary from class to class, our daily schedule ensures students receive a balanced, quality educational experience each day.

School starts at 8:30am with the possibility to arrive as early as 8:20am. We offer three dismissal times (12:30pm, 1:30pm and 3:30pm) to accommodate parents. However, 3:30pm dismissal only applies to potty-trained children 3 years of age or older. The list below indicates activities children enjoy throughout the school day.

  • Morning circle time and movement

  • Daily theme-based creative activities which focus on language, math, fine and gross motor skills

  • Child-centered educational play

  • Outdoor recess

  • Story time and silent reading

  • Snacks and lunch

  • Weekly music lessons

  • Weekly off-campus gym or swim lessons (ages 4.5 and up)

Panda Learning Center limits the school day to eight hours. Children benefit from unstructured play, and time to relax at home or outside the structure of school. Parents who need extended hours usually seek support from a nanny or family member.

We offer after school clubs from 3:35pm-4:20pm for children 4 years and up and 1:45pm-2:30pm for children 3-4 years old. We select clubs according to the interest of the children. Current clubs include ballet, modern dance, ceramics, art, drama, yoga, music, wood shop, and science club. We continually search for new club ideas and welcome suggestions.

Attendance

Join, participate, and learn.

Children must be 2 years of age by September 1st to enter our program. Children must attend a minimum of 3 days per week. Children 5 years of age, who attend Central Point kindergarten, must attend 5 full days per week to adequately prepare for 1st grade (year 2). Full-day attendance (8:30am-3:30pm) only applies to potty-trained children ages 3 and up. Half-day dismissal occurs at 12:30pm or 1:30pm.

The Panda Learning Center welcomes visitors throughout the school year with a 24-hour advance notice, and according to availability. Children on our waiting will receive a notice of acceptance in March/April regarding enrollment the following September.

Generally, enrollment only occurs in September. Enrollment during the school year will only occur if a place becomes available, and if the child’s developmental level falls within range of the classroom level. How do we know if a child meets the classroom level? We invite the child to spend a day in the class and assess the child accordingly. Mid-year enrollment does not apply to children 2-3 years of age.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding enrollment or to arrange a visit. We suggest arranging a visit with your child. Although we aim to please parents, our goal is for your child will feel happy and comfortable attending our school.

We are looking forward to arranging a visit with you!

Qualified
Staff

International, experienced, and dedicated teachers! Our wonderful teachers have qualifications in pedagogical or related field, and experience in child development. They recognize and respect individual needs and learning styles by adjusting, activities, techniques, or procedures to meet specific, individual needs of each child.

Native speakers? As an international school, we welcome all qualified teachers who speak and write in English at a C1 level or higher, and who have studied or lived abroad. When selecting teachers we consider how a teacher interacts with children, methodology, creativity, and experience. We also try to select teachers we can cooperate with on a long-term basis. Children learn a wide range of skills with our qualified, dedicated, and international staff!

We assess children twice per year in a non-critical manner to monitor developmental milestones. Assessments provide a valid way to monitor a child's development and offer an opportunity to discover developmental areas, which require extra attention, or foster exceptional skills. We also arrange parent/teacher conferences twice per year to give parents the opportunity to discuss their child's progress, and learn about their child's achievements.

Our staff recognize developmental delays or advanced skills. If a member of our staff detects a developmental concern, we monitor the concern, apply appropriate techniques to meet the child’s developmental needs, and/or seek advice from a professional to confirm or deny the concern. Addressing a developmental delay early increases the chance to improve or manage the delay so learning can continue. Developmental levels vary from child to child, we encourage parents to avoid using the developmental level of another child to measure the developmental level of their child.

Lunch

Lunch plays an important part of each day. Hungry children or children who do not eat well can have difficulty concentrating, feel irritable, and tend to get ill more often. We offer healthy, delicious meals, prepared by a quality caterer, to ensure children eat well and have energy to learn, play and enjoy the school day.

We offer a vegetarian option or special dietary lunch for gluten or lactose allergies upon request. If a child has severe allergies or several different allergies, we highly suggest packing your child’s lunch.

Children can bring their own packed lunch. However, we ask parents to pack healthy, ready to serve lunches in an insulated lunch bag or box. Please provide healthy snacks in lieu of candy, cookies or other sweets. Water or unsweetened tea only, no soft drinks or sugary beverages.

We make efforts to limit sweets at school. Therefore, we do not permit cakes or sweets for birthday celebrations. Instead of sweets or cake, we ask children to celebrate with a special activity such as sharing personal photos or sharing their favorite story.

We offer water readily throughout the day. As well as, tea or milk occasionally with snacks.
